A Note From Kenya Kids To JamQuest Hoops

Posted in Kenya with tags , , , , , , , , on February 17, 2012 by jamquest

Dear Nick, MacKenzie and Friends of JamQuest;

Re: JamQuest Basketball Tournament 2011

The joy, encouragement and support you bring to us are beyond expression and we can only beg our heavenly father to richly reward you.

Thank you for going beyond the borders and across the Atlantic to reach out to us. Your generosity inspires us in ways that words cannot express. It’s amazing to have young people go out of their way to support their peers in another country. You set a great example for others to follow, and have provided an opportunity for young people in Kenya to go to school. We want to say ‘THANK YOU’ on their behalf.

As you hold the tournament today, we wish you lots of fun and God’s blessings. The funds you have raised have supported five young to get a high school high school education. In Kenya, high school is not free, and because of poverty young people like yourselves are often not able to continue their education after 8th grade.

Those you supported last year include Peter Omchei, Samuel Kisolo, Benjamin Bithe, Jerusha Mbithe, and Velma Baraza. Each youth received an average of $234 dollars. This amount comfortably paid a whole years school fees. Three of the students are in their final year of school and will be sitting for their final examinations by the end of this year. Please keep them in your prayers. They all reside in the Mukuru Slums where poverty is high – people live on less than $2 dollars per day for a whole family. They have dreams just like you and want to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

Much Love,

JamQuest Kids
